December 2007 Idhammer Make the Move
Idhammer met Olympian challenges with Utopia’s help for a successful installation to new premises. Idhammer have been delighted with their new premises after an aborted attempt to relocate due to last minute difficulties with the intended premises months previously. We applied our usual willingness, securing last minute storage for furniture and managing the total supply chain until new premises were sourced, with a successful final installation, now working to full capacity.
December 2007 Daktronics Bristol HQ
Leading sports screen specialists Daktronics take the lead from Utopia for UK Headquarters.Utopia has won the prestigious contract for Daktronics, the leading sports screen specialists in the UK and Europe. The brief - to transform their new warehouse to reflect the UK Headquarter status of their global operations, including design, new shell build and fit-out for 8,000 sq ft is firmly underway. November 2007 Charles Stanley launch in Bristol
“City” style launched in Bristol with leading stockbrokers Charles Stanley and Utopia. One of the UK’s leading stockbroking firms, Charles Stanley has appointed Utopia for a complete solution for launching their new Bristol offices. The finished office will have to reflect their established brand in a design and complete fit-out. We’re looking forward to seeing them happily ensconced in Bristol’s Clifton Village – when we can proudly say “another job well done”!
November 2007 CIP Solicitors to South Plaza
CIP Solicitors take the South Plaza in style with Utopia. Utopia has won a tightly run tender process to design, fit-out and relocate a new 13,000 sq ft premise in Bristol’s South Plaza. Once again we won the project based on the “knowledge and enthusiasm” of our indomitable team – that’s a reputation we can live with! See the case study!
November 2007 Marlborough Tavern Takes Another Win
Utopia clocks another win for Marlborough Tavern - paying dividends for the owners. The Marlborough Tavern has won “Newcomer of the Year” at the national Pub Food Awards. When they wanted a stunning new canvas to breath new live into this pub and serve the best local produce and rustic contemporary pub food, we delivered - and aren’t we glad we did it so well. The awards ceremony was a swanky affair at London’s Hurlingham Club, where the owners not only picked up the prestigious award, but an award winning hangover to boot! Congratulations Marlborough Tavern – we think you’re the best too!
October 2007 Marlborough Tavern Takes Top Awards
Utopia’s success with Marlborough Tavern takes the region’s two top awards. Marlborough Tavern has won two of the region’s sexiest awards – Venue Top Banana Awards, “Best Pub in Bath”; and the Bath Life “Best Watering Hole”. Utopia’s complete design and refurbishment gave this tired tavern the cool cachet that the owners were after – and it’s clearly a hot favourite as a result! That’s what we like – the sweet smell of success!
October 2007 Adam Croft Appointed to Utopia’s Design Team
Utopia has appointed hot new talent to the design team. Adam Croft has joined Utopia’s established design team from the University of Glamorgan BSc Interior Design course. Simply put, he’s an outstanding new talent with an innate “can do” attitude that sits perfectly with the Utopia brand. Adam’s already shown the flair and commitment we expect from our team and when it comes to willing – well, we won’t hold him back!
September 2007 Liberty Mutual International in Bristol
Insurance greats - Liberty Mutual International, chose Utopia again for new Manchester offices. The largest global insurance company has again chosen Utopia for a complete design and fit-out, this time for their new Manchester offices. The appointment has been made based on Utopia’s own, snag free delivery on previous projects. Apparently it’s our “can do” attitude that’s the key ingredient in our reappointment. We’re happy with that – and we’ll keep delivering it!
September 2007 Viewpoint Total Design
Utopia needs an original angle on design - for a unique photographic studio in Bristol. We never mind getting our hands dirty and this will be a job that demands expert design and innovation for a truly unique purpose. Viewpoint Photography require two studios, one big enough to build full size building interiors. The project will require a complete strip out of the new warehouse along with purpose built design, replacing the existing mezzanine with a new unit (minus the existing central leg) to give the maximum possible length of field for flat frame photographs. Oh, and to design and build a funky café and office space with an urban “graffiti and skate” theme – it’s a dirty job, but somebody’s got to do it!
September 2007 Four Marketing at Bristol’s Paintworks
Utopia will take on the Cowshed – with a complete design and fit-out in Bristol’s famous Paintworks. The home of Four Marketing “The Cowshed” will become the unique and funky workspace they want, providing innovative workspace solutions for the creative team and clients alike. The project includes design, flooring lighting, partitions and furniture and the result will be a sleek white space of cool charm centred around a wickedly imaginative orange rubber floor. We aim to please – and please we will!
August 2007 EC Harris Exeter Regional Office
In occupation refurbishment of EC Harris’s high profile Regional Office completed on time and to the penny! EC Harris has appointed Utopia to refurbish their Exeter Regional Office- a demanding refurbishment by anyone’s standards! Not only will it need to mimic the flagship London HQ (on a fraction of the budget), the refurbishment will be carried out with staff in occupation throughout. The project includes strip out, decoration, M & E modifications, flooring, partitions, glazing, data, bespoke joinery and furniture – all designed to facilitate the changes to existing work practices implemented by HQ. July 2007 Riskaware at Colston Tower
Riskaware made risk free appointment of Utopia for their new Head Office in Colston Tower. As a team of specialist software development and consultancy services working at the highest levels in government and private sectors, Riskaware have made a safe bet in selecting Utopia for their demanding 3000 sq ft design and build in one of Bristol’s most high profile office spaces.
June 2007 Marlborough Tavern live on GMTV
Utopia’s outstanding work with Marlborough Tavern exposed - “live” on GMTV. GMTV chose Marlborough Tavern as the backdrop for their live breakfast interview with everyone’s favourite celebrity chef Anthony Worrell Thompson on the Bath Food Festival. To add to the excitement, Bath FM broadcast their entire breakfast show live from the venue. What can we say but it’s another Utopia success story – and the free bacon sarnies and coffee made it even better!
May 2007 TMP London Makeover
TMP Worldwide have again appointed Utopia to refurbish another of its offices. This time we have taken on 42,000sqft and are set to upgrade the working environment, replace the lighting and provide new client suite, break out and assessment zones—and all around their 450 staff as they continue to work without disruption.
May 2007 Ignition at Paintworks
Ignition Design have appointed Utopia to design and fit-out their new studio at Paintworks—Bristol’s new creative quarter. The fit-out of the bare shell includes lighting, heating, toilets, meeting spaces, offices and a creative workspace. Click here for the case study.
April 2007 100% CSCS Drive
Utopia are committed to getting 100% of our project managers and site based operatives CSCS qualified. The campaign has taken effect and we now ONLY employ CSCS registered sub-contractors. Utopia Works are making training available for direct employees and sub-contractors alike as our commitment to maintaining our 100% accident free record.
April 2007 Health & Safety CD and training register. Salus 107 appointed
Salus 107 is an independent Health & Safety consultant who will be driving the development of our Health & Safety CDrom. These CDs will give our clients specific Health & Safety advice and detail our own procedures. Clients will be able to access the training registers of all of our operatives.
February 2007 TMP Worldwide Bristol
Utopia has been appointed as fit-out contractor for TMP Worldwide. The project involved an 8,000 sq ft refurbishment of occupied offices on the 11th Floor of Castlemead. January 2007 Bev Ward appointed as Office Manager
As a part of our expansion and move to new premises Bev Ward was appointed to manage the day to day running of the office. Bev has worked in the London fit-out market and is particularly experienced in the areas of health & safety, the preparation of contract documents, plus the presentation of operation and maintenance manuals. Bev has brought calm and organisation to the team… she actually knows everything!
January 2007 Adrian Nash resigns…. And we don’t blame him!
Adrian Nash has worked in the projects team of the Exeter region on a twelve month placement but starts at Bath University in 2008. He has also successfully landed a placement with Camp America and is the captain of the Utopia sponsored East Devon Hockey club. Adrian is passionate about the sport but will have his work cut out in the US—teaching American girls how to play hockey! We hope that this experience, in the freezing December months, may be enough to lure him back… but we doubt it!
